Building Community Together
One of our favorite aspects of this work has been the ability to create and build community. Not only have we formed a community of volunteers who have come together to build homes, but we’ve also helped build community in Mexico through our outreach. This work has lifted families off dirt floors and into safe, stable homes—and has also supported them in creating sustainable livelihoods as entrepreneurs.
Below are just a few of the stories: families who have opened a restaurant, started a small store, and even built fruit stands to provide for their loved ones and their neighbors.

Below you can join to become a community builder by committing to a monthly donation. Just by a few of us donating the equivalent to a cup a coffee a month can make a huge difference for these families and this community.
Mery's Restuarant
In June 2022, we built a home for Mery and her family. Mery’s joy and generosity shone all weekend—she was always smiling and making sure we were well-fed as we worked. One of her lifelong dreams had been to open her own restaurant, and after receiving her new home, she and her family built a small restaurant right next to it. Today, Mery blesses us with delicious meals during our build weekends, continuing the cycle of love and service.

Cortez Perez Family
The Cortez Perez family once lived in a tiny camper, where all five family members shared a single bed. Life was extremely humble, and to make ends meet the entire family—including the teenage children—worked long days in the fields. When they received their home, they were also given a small cash donation as an extra gift. With determination and vision, they invested it into building a fruit stand. That single step grew into two thriving fruit stands, and now the family no longer needs to labor in the fields. Today, they are building a brighter future with stability, dignity, and hope.
Francisco & Esperanza
Esperanza and Francisco had long dreamed of opening a small store on their land to provide basic necessities for their community. Francisco often struggled to find steady work, and the family needed a way to create a more reliable source of income. Together, we helped them build their store—a simple but powerful step toward stability. Now, when work is slow, the family is able to earn extra income while also serving their neighbors.

Uplifting Fathers
Another way we’ve been able to uplift the community is by hiring local men to help build new homes. Many of them once lived in the same difficult conditions and then received a home themselves. Now, they’re part of the team building for others. We hire them to build the kitchen, kitchen table and these new homes. Through this work with Prosperity Homes, they can earn in a single day what might otherwise take a full week—bringing dignity, stability, and pride to their families while continuing the cycle of giving.
